FARAH & ASIF – ASIAN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT JUMEIRAH CARLTON HOTEL, LONDON
The day Farah called me to say she was getting married and wanted me to be her wedding photographer, I did a happy dance and immediately accepted. Less than a year before, Farah’s sister, Nazia, got married to Ronnie in London and that was the first time I got to meet the lovely Hussain family. I was so overjoyed to think I’d be capturing another big event for them, this time for Farah and Asif.
In this blog post you can find all the best photos from the wedding day, a very useful list of wedding vendors and a slideshow video at the end.
And you also don’t want to miss the wedding albums – go to this link to see the classic brown leather and 22 carat gold combination they chose for their first family heirloom!
Farah’s wedding shoes were Manolo Blahnik and they were literally to die for. While she finished getting ready, I took some sparkly detail photos of her accessories, wedding rings and gold Asian wedding jewellery. In another room at the same hotel, Asif was also getting ready with the help of his family.
Farah and Asif picked Jumeirah Carlton Hotel in Knightsbridge, right in the heart of Central London, for all their wedding celebrations and arranged them in a same day, which made everything very easy for them and meant their guests wouldn’t miss anything. First was the registry ceremony, followed by the Nikkah Muslim religious ceremony, and the happy couple were now officially married!
While guests enjoyed a few drinks and canapés, I sneaked out with the newlywed to take some bride and groom photos outside the wedding venue. We went to the small park that was quite private and we captured some beautiful moments between the happy couple as the sun went down.
Farah’s outfit was so luxurious and elegant, and I specially loved to photograph the details on it. One of my favourite bride photos of her is the one below where she is twirling and smiling! It was so lovely to spend that time with them before going back inside.
The reception room in Jumeirah was decorated beautifully in warm autumnal wedding décor and dim lights. And that wedding cake was an absolute dream. Farah had thought of every detail and it really showed. From the table seating plan board, to the color theme, the lighting, wedding stage, candles and flowers… everything looked perfect and set the mood for a lovely evening. Major Asian wedding décor goals everywhere!
It was time for the groom entrance, showered by flower petals by the bride’s family. Then, the Nikkah ceremony took place, and Farah could finally also do her bride entrance, by the arms of her proud father and brother, who accompanied her to the wedding stage and to her new happy husband.
It is so, so important to make sure you take photos with your beloved friends and family on your wedding day, and this is one of the moments that I appreciate the most as a female Asian wedding photographer. I do love that in these weddings there usually is a stunning stage where you can take beautiful group photos. There were also plenty of sweet moments when members of both families brought gifts to the new husband and wife, to show their love and welcome them into their lives.
For the wedding cake cutting, we needed to be in the centre of the stage, and we needed some dramatic light for impact! How sweet was that Farah and Asif picked All of me by John Legend as their first dance song…
Once the song was over, it was an open dance floor and guests and family danced the evening away until it was time to say the final goodbyes and send the bride off to her new family. The Rukhsati or Bidai is often a very emotional and private moment, and in this wedding, knowing the Hussain family a bit now, I could really feel how loved Farah is by every member of her family and how much they were going to miss her. I don’t think she will ever forget those heartfelt hugs as she walked into this new exciting chapter of her life.
Dear Farah and Asif,
I can’t thank you enough for trusting me again to be there for such a big moment in your life. It was such a pleasure to share with you the excitement of your wedding day, to plan and enjoy it with you.
I am so grateful that we crossed paths and I hope you cherish your wedding photos forever.
Wishing you the best for your new married life,
